Fall Class Descriptions

Apraxia/Oral Motor Group

The Apraxia group focuses on children with motor group is designed based on the needs of the children. This can become a phonological group, basic articulation or geared more to motor planning. This group can help “late talkers” who need a boost!

The Oral Motor group is designed to work with children with difficulties in the area of oral motor planning such as: oral stage of chewing, drooling, imitating speech sounds, weak oral tone. Therapy will consist of fun ways to strengthen oral motor musculature and develop automatic response.

Handwriting Group

The handwriting group is designed for children by skill levels. All the handwriting classes teach with the “handwriting without tears” method. The preschool class teaches the formation of the uppercase and lowercase letters. They are taught using a variety of different media. The school age class works on writing upper and lower case letters and writing them within the space provided using the appropriate spacing between letters. The cursive class teaches lowercase cursive letters first, then uppercase cursive letters second. Once letter formation is mastered, we move to writing cursive letters in sentences.

Late Talkers Group

The late talkers group is for children between the ages of 18 months and 3 who are either not talking or not saying many words. These children understand what is said to them, but are not able to express their wants and needs verbally. The late talker may be getting frustrated by their delay in communication. This hour and a half will be center around play to get your child “using words”. The last half hour will be used to educate the parents on working with your child at home to maximize verbal communication.

Motor Group

Come join this movement class for children of all ages, abilities and needs. This class will focus on increased body awareness, body control, balance, and coordination specific to each child. It is taught by a licensed physical therapist with a background in gymnastics. We will use bubbles, games, musics, mats, swings, and trampolines to enhance movement. Each family will walk away with new activities and ideas to use with their child. Class meets 1 hour per week for 6 weeks.

Picky Eaters

The Picky Eaters Group is a feeding group for children of all ages that have difficulty with eating. This group takes a comprehensive approach to feeding and offer sensory supports for children who struggle with eating. The goal of this group is to expose children’s diets and have them try and explore new foods.

Sensory Group

Sensory Group is offered for children of all ages, whether they are over or under stimulated. We have a wide variety of sensory equipment to assist your child with their sensory processing skills. In this class we utilize swings, trapeze bars, climbing walls, crash pits and ball pits to help your child regulate their bodies. During this class we enjoy music and movement as well to help increase overall awareness of bodies and help provide body in space awareness.

*This class can be geared for your child. Our center offers many activities to stimulate or calm your child.*

Social Group

Social group is designed to meet the needs of one of life’s most basic skills–socializing. Concepts such as turn-taking, eye contact, greetings, appropriate times to talk and how to order food at restaurants are just a few of the concepts that will be taught and practices. This is a fun class for all involved!

Toddler Time

Toddler Time offers Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy & Speech Therapy. This is a class geared for children 2-4 years old and consists of both group time and Individual activities in all areas of therapy.
